Horrible Bosses (2011)

Ever Wish your Boss were dead?
What do you do if you have a horrible boss who is making life hell for you, while you need the job due to complex reasons? ‘Horrible Bosses’ is a slightly dark comedy that paints such a scenario. Three friends each suffer under a horrible boss. So horrid their bosses are that they decide that the only way out of being tormented by them is that they kill each other’s boss to avoid being directly linked by motivation.

The unnerving part is when the audience is urged to empathise with their suffering, urged to believe that murder seems to be indeed the solution. What if you are in their shoes? What would you do? This being a comedy after all, there is no real violence, as they kind of bumblingly and somewhat creatively resolve their troubles.

It’s a reminder that even as we seek justice, we should avoid contemplating unethical solutions. Even if it seems to solve the problem for some time, to do so is to jump from the frying pan into the fire. We must find greater skilful means like the Bodhisattvas!

After the gloomy heroics of Snow White & The Huntsman, the gloomy moping of Red Riding Hood and the gloomy bullshit of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, it’s a welcome relief to hear a bedtime story told with the light on.

 Nicholas Hoult is Jack, now a young-adult hottie rather than a mere lad, and what he has to sell is a horse, rather than an undignified cow. The five beans he gets create a beanstalk that leads to a mysterious land of giants. The sinister and treacherous Prince Roderick (Stanley Tucci) plans to get up there and subdue them with a magic ring, and use these colossal brutes as a private army to impose tyranny back in Olde Albion, and thus betray good King Brahmwell (Ian McShane), his trusty courtier Elmont (Ewan McGregor) and the lovely Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson), with whom Jack naturally falls in love. It's very different from, say, Terry Gilliam's magic-beans riff in The Brothers Grimm (2005), which glanced at the darker subtext. Bryan Singer isn't interested in any psychological Bruno Bettelheim stuff; anyway, it's boisterously silly and enjoyable.

I Enjoyed Last Night

Though the movie was quite normal but, I don't know that why I have enjoyed it. With critics slamming the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana, claiming that it is not as terrible as the first, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 raked in approximately Rs.22.5 to 22.50 crore in the opening weekend of its release at the box office.

Despite receiving flak from the critics, the Deol home production - Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 managed to rake a decent collection at the box office in first weekend. 

With critics slamming the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana, claiming that it is not as terrible as the first, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 raked in approximately Rs.22.5 to 22.50 crore in the opening weekend of its release at the box office.
